Tuesday 21 June from 9.30 to 16.00 ACAO will host a meeting dedicated to air experience flights for the disabled.
A special kit fitted on one of the club’s glider allows the rudder pedals to be controlled with the hands allowing a disabled person to pilot the aircraft.
At ACAO the disabled could obtain a gliding licence following the normal steps, starting with a medical certificate prior to applying to the club’s school. Theory lessons can be followed by video conference from an accessible location.
Next Tuesday is slated for a pilot-guided tour of the club, including the Study Centre for Alpine Soaring museum, a flight in our simulator and real flights accompanied by experienced pilots.
The project has been achieved thanks to the support of the UBI Foundation.
