The Italian tour of the Qualifying Grand Prix Series XII concluded on Saturday, June 8.
20 participants, 5 Italians and 15 foreigners. 8 nations represented: Austria, France, Germany, England, Holland, Poland, Slovenia and, of course, Italy.
The weather was definitely not what we are usually accustomed to at this time, but the race director, Stefano Ghiorzo, managed the situation very well, allowing five out of seven valid tasks to be held, a couple of which were flown by the competitors with really low plafonds and yet managed to fly with averages speed always above 100 km/h.
Il livello dei partecipanti è stato veramente molto alto e questo ha reso la gara ancora più interessante.
The race was held in complete safety and the pilots were, as always, very happy with what our club was able to offer.
Our Alberto Sironi finished second, earning a pass to the finals to be held next year in St. Auban. Go Alberto, go!!!
Special thanks go to ACAO members for their patience, all the volunteers who helped during line and landing operations, our two pilots …. ( even those that are a bit peculiar:
Fabio who performed a few miracles to get tow planes with a few problems back on the flight line, the secretariat, the bar staff, Piero Magnaghi for weather advice, Francois for scoring, our director Balducci who led the line with great professionalism, and finally Stefano Ghiorzo, who bringing his great racing experience, managed to direct the race with great determination and professionalism.
Certainly a magnificent occasion that brought prestige to our fellowship all over the world …..
In this folder,
countless, beautiful photographs of the competition and the whole setting.
Your president, Margherita Acquaderni.
